As part of our partnership with the Jobs with Justice Campaign for a Debt-Free Future, CWA Next Generation will co-sponsor a free event for CWA members who are burdened by student debt. Locals 1180 and 1102 will co-host the event.

Are some or all of your loans issued by the Department of Education (i.e., are they federal loans)?

Private loans through banks and credit unions are not eligible, but the vast majority of loans are federal loans. If you’re not sure what kind of loan you have, visit: http://nslds.ed.gov/. Log in and the site will list your federal loans.

Do you work in public service for government, emergency services, public health organizations, or public schools?

Public Service Loan Forgiveness could eliminate your direct federal student loans entirely after 120 on-time payments. An estimated 33 million Americans are eligible for student debt forgiveness—and very few know about this program.

CWA members aged 35 and younger* with a current federal student loan may attend this clinic to learn how to lower or eliminate monthly payments. This could put more money in your pocket every month!
